I had the pleasure of having Supa Dave West over for a few days not too long ago – (to work on a joint for the project I’m doing with Willie Evans Jr. – craziness). Well if you’ve seen the Southern Scramble Promo Video I did with Dave last summer, you know how we get it in when it comes to food. It was the late night snack tip, and I decided to throw down with the pan-fried Gyoza. (Japanese dumplings). These joints are stuffed with veggies: carrot, scallion, cabbage, etc. – BOMB! Pan fry ‘em in a lil canola/sesame oil blend – get em all crispy ya know? Then it’s all about the sauce – Soy, lemon juice , garlic, jalapenos, sesame oil (just a touch),scaliions on top  . . . yo . . .YO!!

Dillon Ate: with J Dilla’s Aunt Rita and Uncle Herm

Lemme just say that I was blessed recently to have two of my favorite people over for dinner – my homie and road dogg, Uncle Herm, and his sister, Aunt Rita – they are brother and sister to J Dilla’s mother,  Ma Dukes aka The Godmother of Hiphop. Rita was in town to pick up their other sister, Clarice, en route to the live performance of the “Suite for Ma Dukes” in LA- (incredible by the way -cop that!) Since I had Detroit in the mafuggin building, I had to represent southern style in the kitchen-

Southern Dillon gets it poppin – Polenta Cakes, Collard Greens (no pork in it, chumps!), Corn-Meal Crusted Cod, Pearl Cous Cous, and Cornbread! Good lawd!
